About

Welcome to my balanced world.

Just a girl.

Enjoying both the ‘clean’ and ‘mean’ sides of food.

I have always had a special interest in food preparation, and growing up with three older brothers and now, two sister in laws, I guess you could say food was a pretty important part of our lives. However, I am now much older than the little girl sitting at the table waiting for her pasta to be served… and after recovering from a 2 1/2 year eating disorder, I am now able to pursue my passion for good food and health. Not only have I learnt (first hand) the amazing power of food, but also continually learn how to nourish, believe and inspire myself (and hopefully others) with healthy, nutritious foods.

I am currently based in Wellington, NZ where you can find me studying a Bachelor of Arts. Sometimes I feel like I have it all figured out, and other times I feel just about as lost as majority of teenagers my age. Ultimately though, in whatever field I end up in or what I end up doing… I know that it will involve food.

I don’t like to label my fitness, diet or lifestyle choices by one name. Labelling creates restrictions. Hence the name of this very blog, cleanandmean. By that, I am by no means stigmatising certain food groups as clean vs mean. Rather – I am acknowledging that while on some days I will eat a variety of fresh food and veggies… on others, I may choose to eat food that fuels my soul and is not considered ‘nutritionally beneficial’. Binging is something that I have struggled with in the past, and occasionally still do binge from time to time (but hey guess what… I am human after all). We all have our ups and downs, but I can honestly say that on a day to day basis, I try my best to create personal food choices based on what I, ANNIE, WANT AND NEED.

Remember. There is nothing more important that your state of mind. The ability to believe in yourself, motivate yourself, inspire others, and nourish your body, are all decided by the ability to control your own life experience.

Thank you for taking the time in your day to visit me. If you ever need advice, regardless of whether its about recovery, binging, anxiety, depression, healthy lifestyle choices – or are just up for a chat…. please do not hesitate to flick me a message.

You rock.
